Windows Defender real-time protection was disabled
Real-time virus and threat protection scanning was turned off (`DisableRealtimeMonitoring`).
Event ID 5001 (`Microsoft-Windows-Windows Defender/Operational`) triggers when Windows Defender Real-time Protection is disabled via settings, PowerShell (`Set-MpPreference -DisableRealtimeMonitoring $true`), or Group Policy. Disabling real-time protection is almost universally the first action performed by ransomware operators and post-exploitation frameworks (`Disable EDR/AV - T1562.001`).
