A member was added to a security-enabled global group
A member was added to a security-enabled global group in Active Directory (e.g., Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins).
Event ID 4728 logs whenever an identity (`MemberName` / SID) is added into an Active Directory security-enabled global group. Global groups such as `Domain Admins`, `Enterprise Admins`, and `Schema Admins` grant sweeping network administrative privileges. Unauthorized modifications to these groups indicate severe privilege escalation or persistence.
Failure Reason / Root Cause:
Authorized IT administrative role assignment, privileged access management workflows, or attacker privilege escalation.

Recommended actions
- Implement real-time high-priority alerting for any additions to critical groups (`Domain Admins`, `Enterprise Admins`, `Account Operators`).
- Verify that the user performing the addition (`SubjectUserName`) holds legitimate authorization and an active change ticket.
- Regularly audit domain global group rosters against baseline authorized personnel lists.
