5158

The Windows Filtering Platform has permitted a bind to a local port

A process (`Application Name`) successfully bound and opened a local listening port (`TCP/UDP`).

Event ID 5158 logs when a local application binds to a network port (`Source Port`, `Protocol: TCP/UDP`). When threat actors deploy local command-and-control servers, reverse shells, or proxy relays (`netsh interface portproxy` or reverse SSH tunnels) on compromised endpoints, event `5158` captures the exact process (`Application Name`) and local port opened for listening.

Failure Reason / Root Cause:

Local port bind operation permitted (`Application Name` binding to `Source Port`).
